About

Modern Warfighter is an independent defense publication focused on military aviation, autonomy, acquisition, and force modernization.

The name reflects the publication’s focus. Modern refers to the technologies, systems, and decisions reshaping military power, including aircraft, autonomy, sensors, networks, weapons, and force design. Warfighter refers to the purpose behind those tools: survivability, operational reach, coordination, decision-making, and mission effectiveness.

Together, Modern Warfighter means analyzing military systems through the lens of real utility, not just what they are, but what they change.

Coverage examines how aircraft, autonomous platforms, weapons programs, and modernization decisions connect inside a larger operational picture. The goal is to make defense analysis clear, serious, and readable without reducing it to hype, platform worship, or procurement drama.

Modern Warfighter is authored and edited by Andres Cardenas, a U.S. Army veteran and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University student focused on aerospace systems, military aviation, and operational analysis.
